Knowing the target markets and Priority ranking of potential markets of a single product can eventually lead to providing an efficient marketing strategy for companies who intend to export their products. This would prevent expenditure wastes of those companies that aim for continuous presence in the world markets. On the other hand, with regard to export planners and executive authorities, it can have invaluable role in providing commercial strategies. especially from the point of view of mutual trade negotiations.
This paper focuses on two basic issues of "comparative advantage" and "final priority ranking of target markets based on attraction indices", especial lly for apparel imports.
Surveying the world apparel market suggest that in recent two decades, new countries have joined exporters and importers of apparel. Nevertheless, advanced industrial countries still have the highest share of both exports and imports of these goods in the world markets. Following the independence of a number of countries in central Asia. Caucus and Eastern Europe. new markets have been opened to exporters and Iranian exporters pin point them as their potential target markets.
Finally, the results of this study imply that Singapore, Ireland. New Zealand, Britain. France. Austria. Belgium. Canada and Australia are relatively the most important potential target markets for Iranian apparel.
