Psychological Operations in : Insurgency Kurdistan Case

In the course of about one decade of crisis in Iranʹs Kurdistan, which many have labled it as insurgency crisis, vast parts of three western Iranʹs provinces had turned into the scene of applying different techniques and tactics of countermeasurs of psychological operations (including both insurgency and counter - insurgency psychological operations). During that decade, using such means as radio stations, statements, meetings, face to face persuasion as well as applying such tactics as show-off, creation of division and discord, spreading rumors, confessions, and exploiting agents, etc., both sides were trying to prevent people from coming to the other sideʹs comp and to weaken the morale and integration of forces in other side and at the same time to upgrade the morale, motivation and preparations of their own forces to be able to continue the campaign. The existing documents and evidence indicate that both sideʹs psychological operations were effective during one decade of insugency in Iranʹs Kurdistan. In the present article, the techniques and tactics of insurgency psychological operations in Kurdistan inserrection and the effectiveness of such operations have been discussed thoroughly and in details.
