Just ten years ago, 30x30 cm was still the most widely produced tile size in Italy, accounting for 42% of national floor tile production (2007 figure). The 60x60 cm and 90x90 cm sizes made up just 5% of the total and were considered “extra-large”. Since then, the most advanced industry players and the high end of international markets have evolved rapidly to the extent that the 60x60 cm size is now considered a standard and is classified amongst the so-called “traditional sizes”. Porcelain slab and panel production is now a well-established business that reflects the capacity for innovation of industry professionals and the enormous development potential of traditional ceramic tiles.
