شاهنامه تنها شناسنامه‌ي زبان فارسي نيست بلكه در واقع آيينه‌ي آيين و انديشه و پسند و آرمان ايران و ايراني است، نام‌هاي نامور كه بيش از يك هزاره تماشاگه راز فرهنگ ماست. شاهنامه خردنامه است و خداي نامه. زشتي و درشتي و پلشتي را در قالب داستان‌ها و در هيئت و شخصيت‌هاي ضحاك‌ها و افراسياب‌ها و ديوان تخطئه مي‌كند و خوبي و خرد و روشني و درستي را تمثيل وار در سيماي فريدون‌ها و رستم‌ها و مردان و زنان بزرگ فرا چشم و دل مي‌گذارد. نويسنده در اين مقاله كوشيده است تا حدي نمادها و سمبل‌ها و تمثيل‌هايي از اين كتاب سترگ را جلوي چشم خواننده مجسم كند. براي تحقق اين اهداف در اين تحقيق از روش كتابخانه‌اي استفاده شده است.
