بيان مسئله:
نشان هاي دانشگاه هاي هر كشور، بازنماي بخشي از فرهنگ بصري آن كشور است. نشان دانشگاه هنر تهران، نمونه اي از اين دست است كه در عين سادگي به اعتبار جامعيت معاني نيازمند تحليل، نقد و رمزگشايي است. در اين پژوهش مشخصا به سوال زير پاسخ داده مي شود. نشان دانشگاه هنر تهران چه ميزان از معاني را در خويش گردآورده است و مخاطب را به چه مفاهيمي ارجاع مي دهد؟
هدف
رمزگشايي نشان دانشگاه هنر تهران به منظور شناخت معنايي نشانه هاي فرهنگي ايراني .
روش پژوهش:
روش اين پژوهش، توصيفي تفسيري؛ شيوه گردآوري اطلاعات تركيب كتابخانه اي و ميداني ابتدا بر پايه مصاحبه با طراح، سير تكويني آفرينش آن مرور خواهد شد؛ سپس بر پايه الگوي «ادموند بوركه فلدمن» طي چهار گام (توصيف، تحليل فرمي، تفسير و ارزيابي) نقد و تحليل مي گردد.
يافته ها:
اگر اين نشان را تصوير تلقي كنيم با يك فرم انتزاعي ارگانيك روبه رو هستيم كه حس پرواز را تداعي مي كند و اگر از منظر خوش نويسي بدان بنگريم، نقطه نستعليق و كسره اي در ذيل آن، نشاني نوشتاري را نمايش مي دهد. ايجاز تصويري و معنايي اين نشانه سبب شده از جنبه نمادين فراتر رود و به مرزهاي رمز و اشاره وارد شود؛ با مرور نمونه هاي در دسترس از نشان دانشگاه هاي شاخص كشور مي توان دريافت، طراحي اين نشان، رويكرد متفاوتي را نسبت به نشان هاي دانشگاهي پيش روي طراحان نهاده و بر طراحي تعدادي از نشان هاي دانشگاهي كشور تاثير مستقيم داشته است.

Problem definition:
The emblems of each country’s universities reflect a part of that country’s visual culture. The sign of Tehran University of Arts is an example which despite its simplicity, requires analysis, critique and decryption due to its comprehensiveness of meanings. In this research, the following question is specifically answered. How many meanings does the emblem of Tehran University of Arts include and what concepts does it refer the audience to?
Objective
Decryption of the emblem of Tehran University of Arts in order to recognize the meaning of Iranian cultural symbols.
Research method
The information has been collected based on a descriptive-interpretive manner with a combination of library and field survey. First, the evolutionary process of its creation will be reviewed based on an interview with the designer and it is then critiqued and analyzed in four steps (description, formal analysis, interpretation and evaluation) based on the Edmund Burke Feldman’s model.
Results
If this emblem is considered as an image, one is faced with an organic abstract form that evokes a sense of flight. If we look at it from a calligraphic point of view, the Nastaliq’s dot and a kasra below it indicate the writing signs. The visual and semantic brevity of this sign has caused it to go beyond the symbolic aspect and enter the boundaries of encryption and indication. Reviewing the available emblem samples corresponding to the country’s leading universities, it can be observed that the design of this sign has provided the designers with a different approach for designing the academic signs and has had a direct impact on the design of a number of university emblems of the country. Also, an overview of this sign indicated that it is compatible with the technical and aesthetic criteria of the present age.
