Geographical Significance of Oil in the World Economy

The aim of this paper is to discuss the geopolitical importance of oil in the world in the third millennium. This paper studies the increasing trend of oil price in the world with a focus on its hows and the whys. It also studies oil monopolies, the origin of OPEC and the effect of different variables on the political Geography of oil. In addition, it evaluates the rote of Kyoto Protocole in protecting the environment and its effects on oil consumption, OPEC dissolution scenario and finally the US invasion of Iraq and its subsequent consequences are also studied.
