بررسـي تقابـل هـاي دوگانـه درآثـار هنـري وادبـي توجـه برخـي زبـان شناسـان،روايت شناسان و نشانه شناسان معاصر را به خود جلب كرده است . آنها بـرايـن عقيـده انـد كـه ازايـن منظر به درك و دريافت بهتري ازآثار ادبي مي توان دست يافت. سبك هندي يكي ازدوره هايي است كه تقابل هاي فكري،فرهنگي،جغرافيايي ومذهبي به شكلي تاثيرگذارخودرا بيش از دوره هاي ديگر نشان مي دهد. در ميان شاعران سبك هندي"سليم تهراني"از زمره نكته‌پردازان توانمندي است كه درزمينه‌هاي گوناگون توانسته است مضمون هاي متقابل بديع و درخور توجهي بيافريند. نگارنده دراين مقاله به شيوة اسنادي،كتابخانه اي به بررسي تقابل هـاي دوگانـه يازوج هاي متقابل ـ به عنوان يكي ازعناصر محـوري اشـعار اوـ مي پردازد.براي اين غرض 100غزل ازمواضـع مختلـف ديوان او انتخاب شد.دراين غزل ها 335 مورد تقابل دوگانه،يعني درهرغزل تقريباً 3/4 مـورد،يافت شد.اين تقابل هاي دوگانـه درسـه بخـش واژگـاني و لفظـي (70 %)،معنـايي و فكـري (81 %)و ادبـي(31 %)دسته بندي شده اند. زوج هاي متقابل معنايي دراشعارسليم بـسامدبيـشتري دارنـد.برخـي ازاين زوج هـاي متقابـل مانند:زهد و شادنوشي،نقص و كمال و... زيرشـاخة مفـاهيم كلانـي اسـت كـه درديـوان سليم كـاربردزيادي دارنـد،سليم ازطريق اين تقابـل هـا غزلهاي خودراتشخّص خاصي داده وسبك شعري خود را از ديگران متمايزكرده است.
