از يونان باستان تا جهان امروز مسأله‌ي استقراء ذهن انديشمندان به خصوص منطق‌دانان و فلاسفه را درگير خود نموده است. كاربرد استقراء نيز در حوزه‌هاي مختلف اهميت امر را دوچندان نموده است. در پاسخ به اين مسأله جواب‌هاي متفاوتي داده شده است؛ از آن‌جا كه استقراء همواره در كنار قياس به عنوان قسم ديگر استدلال مطرح بوده است و قياس نيز نزد تقريبا تمامي منطق‌دانان موجه و حجيت آور است، عده اي سعي داشته اند تا استقراء را همانند قياس موجه سازند؛ از طرف ديگر گروهي نيز با بي اعتبار نمودن و گرفتن حجيت قياس سعي به شباهت قياس و استقراء داشته اند. افراد ديگري نيز به شكل متفاوتي به مسئله نگاه كرده اند و عده‌اي اصل صورت مسئله را منتفي دانسته اند. در اين مقاله ضمن بيان مسأله و پاسخ‌هايي كه به آن داده شده است و دسته‌بندي مطالب، به پاسخي از گروه دوم مي‌پردازيم و مقاله اي از سوزان‌هاك را مطرح مي‌كنيم كه در باب توجيه استدلال قياسي است. سوزان هاك در مقاله خود ضمن بيان چالش هايي كه در برابر استقراء است، سعي بر آن دارد كه اين چالش ها را متوجه قياس نمايد و نشان دهد كه قياس نيز به موازات استقراء دچار مسائلي است كه با پيش‌فرض گرفته شدن، از آن‌ها رهايي يافته است و او اين پيش‌فرض ها را مورد بررسي قرار مي‌دهد.

The use of induction in various fields has multiplied the importance of the matter. There are different answers to this problem; Since induction has always been considered as another type of argument alongside deduction, and deduction is justified by almost all logicians, some have tried to justify induction as a deduction; On the other hand, some groups have tried to resemble deduction and induction by discrediting and taking the validity of deduction. Other people have taken a different view of the issue and some have ruled out the issue. In this article, while stating the problem and the answers are given to it and categorizing the contents, we will deal with an answer from the second group and present and translate an article by Susan Haack, which is about justifying deductive reasoning. In her article, Susan Hawke, while expressing the challenges of induction, tries to contrast these challenges with deduction and show that deduction, like induction, has problems but has been freed from them by assuming some things, and he examines these presuppositions.
