Simultaneous Embolization to Coronary Artery and Cerebral Artery With Cardiac Origin (Case Report)

The clot presenting in left atrium is the origin of embolization to various regions of the body. In this article, a 62 years old woman with simultaneous coronary and cerebrovascular thromboembolism bas been reported. This patient has been admitted several times in neurology ward with transient ischemic attacks, but the presence of valvular heart disease (mitral stenosis) and clot in left atrium has been missed. The patient has been referred to cardiology ward where the coronary artery embolism has been diagnosed accidentally in angiography. Also, in coronary artery bypass graft surgery with mitral valve replacement and remove of clot from left atrium, the intraaortic clot has been found. It is recommended that especial attention to be made for diagnosis of heart diseases (especially by echocardiography) in patients with recurrent cerebrovsscular accidents; and that the angiography be performed regardless of patientʹs age and aortotomy be considered in such cases.
