چكيده فارسي :
هويت يا پرسش از كيستي و چيستي انسان، به صورت شكلي از آگاهي تاريخي بروز كرده و داراي كارويژه هاي فردي و اجتماعي متعددي است. در دهه هاي اخير با توجه به پيچيده شدن روند هويت يابي و نيز گستردگي لايه ها و ابعاد هويت، گسترش جهاني شدن، پيدايش مكاتب و رهيافت هاي مدرن و پسامدرن درباره تبيين مباني، مؤلفه ها و كاركردهاي آن و نيز تأثير رويدادهاي سياسي، اجتماعي و اقتصادي بر امر هويت يابي، موضوع هويت براي بسياري از جوامع تبديل به مسئله اي مهم و اساسي شده كه حتي از آن تعبير به بحران مي شود. در ايران هم با توجه به تنوع قومي و زباني، ميراث غني تاريخي و فرهنگي، تأثيرات جهاني و عوامل ديگر، دهه هاي گذشته هويت به يك مسئله اجتماعي، سياسي و نيز موضوع علمي-پژوهشي مهم تبديل شده است. اين مقاله بر آن است كتاب «هويت ايراني» را مورد تحليل انتقادي قرار داده و مهم ترين ابعاد مثبت و نيز كاستي هاي آن را بررسي نمايد. دستاوردهاي تحقيق بيانگر آن است عدم تعريف عملياتي مفاهيم اصلي، تكيه بر گفتمان هويتي ايران مدار و ناديده گرفتن گفتمان هاي هويت بخش ديگر، تناقض در مباني نظري و روش شناختي مقالات، تكيه بر دوره بندي هاي تاريخ سياسي و ناديده گرفتن چالش هاي برآمده از رويارويي هويت ايراني و هويت ملي از جمله كاستي هاي كتاب است.

Identity, or the examination of who and what man is, has developed as a type of
historical awareness and serves a variety of individual and societal functions. Due to
the complexity of the identification process and the vastness of layers and aspects of
identity, the growth of globalization, the establishment of modern and postmodern
educational institutions and frameworks to describe its principles, elements, and
functions, and the implications of recent political, social, and economic events, the
subject of identity has become a critical and fundamental concern. In Iran also,
identity has emerged as a critical social, political, and scientific issue. The purpose
of this article is to perform a critical examination of the book "Iranian Identity:
From Antiquity to the End of Pahlavi" emphasizing both its strengths and
weaknesses. The study's findings signify that the book has become a widely cited
source in the Iranian scientific-research community as a result of its theoretical
principles and research methodology; however, the book's lack of operational
definitions for key concepts, emphasis on Iranian identity discussion while ignoring
other identity discussions, and inconsistencies in the theoretical and methodological
framework, reliance on the periods of political history, and a neglect of the challenges resulting from the confrontation between Iranian and national identities,
all contribute to the book's shortcomings.
