اين مقاله، با روش تحليل كتابخانه‌اي تاريخي، در پاسخ به اين سؤال نگاشته شده كه يادكرد حمزه(ع) در كلام و سيره پيامبر اكرم(ص) و اهل‌بيت(ع)، چه كاركردهايي داشته است؟ پاسخ به اين سؤال تحليلي است و از زاويه‌ي كاركردهاي اجتماعي، عاطفي، معرفتي-فرهنگي، سياسي در عصر معصومان، در قالب‌هاي مختلفي چون اعطاي لقب، ذكر فضائل، گريه و سوگواري، زيارت، تبرك جستن، ياد كردن به هنگام مصائب و شدائد، استدلال به خويشاوندي با حمزه و افتخار به آن و... بيان شده كه از نظر تحليل و زاويه نگاه، منحصربه‌فرد و داراي ديدگاه جديدي است.
