مطابق عقيده تشيع حضرت مهدي به عنوان آخرين امام و وديعه الهي، ولايتي تام و مطلق از جانب خداوند متعال دارد. پررونق‌ترين طايفه صوفي شيعه در دوران اخير«گنابادي»ها هستند. اقطاب صوفيه گنابادي معتقدند بخشي از اين هدايت و ولايت امام در زمان غيبت كبري كه مهدويت تبعي و هدايت باطني امت است به آنها موكول شده و هدايت ظاهري به فقها سپرده شده است. مهم‌ترين گزاره‌ها و مؤلفه‌هاي اعتقادي آنان بيعت با اقطاب، اطاعت محض، و مفهوم اجازه است. ايشان معتقدند، بيعت با قطب در طول بيعت با امام است و در صورت عدم بيعت با قطب، شخص تحت ولايت كليه امام قرار نمي‌گيرد. هم‌چنين شخص بايد مطيع و سرسپرده محض به شيخ باشد حتي اگر از شيخ عصيان و گناهي ببيند، و اجازه همان مجوز دستگيري معنوي است كه به صورت نص شفاهي به قطب اول داده شده و اقطاب ديگر به واسطه وي اين اجازه را دارند

The most important propositions and components of their beliefs are allegiance to the poles, pure obedience, and the concept of permission. He believes that allegiance to the pole is during allegiance to the Imam, and if one does not pledge allegiance to the pole, one will not be subject to the guardianship of the entire Imam. Also, the person must be obedient and pure to the sheikh, even if he sees rebellion and sin from the sheikh, and the permission is the same as the spiritual arrest that was given orally to the first pole, and the other poles are allowed to do so.
