Challenges and opportunities of virtual education: A look at the lived experience of faculty members and students of Dezful University of Medical Sciences in the corona pandemic

مقدمه: امروزه به‌كارگيري آموزش مجازي در طي پاندمي كرونا، به يك ضرورت اصلي در نظام‌هاي آموزشي تبديل ‌شده است، به همين دليل بخش بزرگي از جامعه پزشكي به ويژه دانشگاه‌هاي علوم پزشكي از اين آموزش براي ادامه فرآيند آموزشي خود در طي اين بحران استفاده مي‌كنند. بر اين اساس، هدف اصلي پژوهش حاضر شناسايي چالش‌ها و فرصت‌هاي آموزش مجازي با توجه به تجربه زيسته اعضاي هيأت‌علمي و دانشجويان دانشگاه علوم پزشكي دزفول در طي پاندمي كرونا بود. روش‌ها: اين پژوهش با استفاده از رويكرد كيفي از نوع پديدارشناسي توصيفي انجام شد. بر اين اساس، با استفاده از روش نمونه‌گيري هدفمند از نوع ملاكي تعداد 20 دانشجو و 15 عضو هيأت‌علمي دانشگاه علوم پزشكي دزفول با در نظر گرفتن اشباع در يافته‌ها انتخاب شدند. ابزار مورد استفاده براي گردآوري داده‌ها، مصاحبه نيمه‌ساختاريافته بود. براي تجزيه ‌و تحليل مصاحبه‌ها از روش تحليل محتواي هفت مرحله‌اي كلايزي و جهت بررسي اعتبار يافته‌ها از دو روش بازبيني توسط مشاركت‌كنندگان و بازبيني توسط همكاران استفاده شد. يافته‌ها: تجزيه ‌و تحليل مصاحبه‌ها نشان داد كه از منظر دانشجويان و اعضاي هيأت ‌علمي شركت‌كننده در پژوهش، چالش‌هاي آموزش مجازي در سه مقوله اصلي شامل: چالش‌هاي فني، چالش‌هاي ارتباطي و چالش‌هاي محتوايي طبقه‌بندي شدند. همچنين از منظر اين دو گروه، فرصت‌هاي آموزش مجازي نيز در قالب يك مقوله اصلي شامل تسهيل در آموزش طبقه‌بندي شد. نتيجه‌گيري: برگزاري هرچه بهتر آموزش مجازي نيازمند توجه جدي مديران و متصديان دانشگاه علوم پزشكي دزفول نسبت به رفع چالش‌هاي احصاء شده پيرامون آموزش مجازي و متعاقب آن فراهم كردن زيرساخت‌هاي فناوري لازم است.

Introduction: Nowadays applying virtual education has become a main necessity during the Corona pandemic. For this reason, a large part of the medical community, especially medical universities, is using virtual education to continue their educational process during this crisis. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to identify the challenges and opportunities of virtual education based on the lived experience of faculty members and students of Dezful University of Medical Sciences during the Corona pandemic. Methods: The study was conducted using a qualitative approach by descriptive phenomenology. So, using the purposive sampling method by criterion method, 20 students and 15 faculty members of Dezful University of Medical Sciences were selected by considering the saturation of the findings. The tool used for data collection was a semi-structured interview. To analyze the interviews, the Colaizzi seven-step content analysis method was used, and to evaluate the credibility of the findings, two methods by member checking and peer checking were used. Results: The analysis of the interviews showed that from the perspective of students and faculty members participating in the study, virtual education challenges were classified into three main categories; technical challenges, communication challenges, and content challenges. As well, from the perspective of two groups, the virtual education opportunities were classified into one main category including facilitation in education. Conclusion: Holding to better virtual education requires the serious attention of managers and directors of the Dezful University of Medical Sciences to address the challenges of virtual education and provide the needed technology infrastructure.
