تپه‌هاي ماسه‌اي ريگ‌بلند آران و بيدگل، به مساحت تقريبي 168٬000 هكتار، در شمالي‌ترين منطقه استان اصفهان قرار گرفته است. در اين گستره شنزار، انواع تپه‌هاي ماسه‌اي طولي، عرضي، ستاره‌اي و بارخان توزيع شده‌اند. ساختار كلي خاك منطقه، بيشتر شني سبك و در برخي نقاط توأم با ذرات گچ و كوارتز است. پهنه ماسه‌اي ريگ‌بلند به شكل نعل اسب از منطقه مرنجاب آغاز شده و تا شمال شهر آران و بيدگل امتداد يافته است، سپس، به طرف شرق تا شمال شهر ابوزيدآباد گسترش مي‌يابد. تپه‌هاي شني ريگ‌بلند، از بزرگ‌ترين ماسه‌زارهاي استان اصفهان و پنجمين شنزار بزرگ در بيابان‌هاي كشور است. اين منطقه در محدوده ارتفاعي حداقل 780 متر و حداكثر 1100 متر از سطح دريا قرار دارد. ميانگين بارندگي ساليانه در اين منطقه، 120 ميلي‌متر است كه بيش از 50درصد از آن در فصل زمستان روي مي‌دهد. ميانگين درجه حرارت مطلق ساليانه، بين 13- تا 48+ درجه سانتي‌گراد در نوسان است. گستردگي تپه‌هاي شني اين پهنه بيولوژيك، داراي جاذبه‌هاي طبيعي منحصر‌به‌فردي است كه به‌ويژه طي دو دهه اخير، مورد علاقه بسياري از طبيعت‌گردان قرار گرفته است. پوشش گياهي اين منطقه ازنظر حاكميت شرايط بوم‌شناسي ويژه بيابان، بيشتر شامل گياهان يك‌ساله و زودگذر بهاره، گونه‌هاي بوته‌اي چندساله و پايا و درختچه‌هاي بادوام و بردبار در برابر انواع تنش‌هاي محيطي است. تنوع گونه‌اي گياهان بومي مستقر در ماسه‌زارهاي ريگ‌بلند، نيازمند برنامه‌ريزي‌هاي مدوني در رابطه با حفاظت از رستني‌هاي اين زيست‌بوم در آينده است.

The Aran and Bidgol Rig Boland dunes with approximately 168,000 hectares are located in the northernmost region of Isfahan province. In this region, different types of linear, transverse, stellar, and Barkhan dunes are distributed. The general structure of dunes is mainly light sandy, and in some places, it is accompanied by gypsum and quartz particles. The Rig Boland is in a horseshoe shape, starting from the Marnjab region, and extends to the north of Aran and Bidgol city. The Rig Boland is the largest sand field in Isfahan province and the eighth largest dune in the country. The altitude range of this region is at least 780 meters and at most 1100 meters above sea level. The average annual rainfall is 120 mm, which is more than 50% of the precipitation that occurs in winter. The average annual absolute temperature fluctuations are between -13 to +48 °C. The expanse of dunes of this biological zone has unique natural attractions that have been of interest to nature lovers, especially during the last two decades. The plant vegetation of this region, due to the dominance of special desert ecological conditions, often includes annual and short-lived spring plants, perennial bush plants, and durable and tolerant shrubs against various environmental stresses. The species diversity of native plants located in the Rig Boland dunes reveals the need for codified planned planning to protect the plants of this ecosystem for the future.
