The Role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Deterring the US Military Presence in the Persian Gulf after September 11, 2001

يكي از موضوعاتي كه همواره بر امنيت ملي ايران تاثيرگذار بوده است، حضور نظامي مداخله‌جويانه آمريكا در خليج فارس است. اين كشور امروزه بزرگترين تهديد برون‌منطقه‌اي در منطقه خليج فارس بر عليه امنيت ملي ايران مي‌باشد. ايران نيز همواره در جهت حفظ و ارتقاي توان بازدارندگي خود در قبال حضور نظامي آمريكا در منطقه خليج فارس تلاش نموده است. اين پژوهش به دنبال پاسخ‌گويي به اين پرسش مي‌باشد كه نقش جمهوري اسلامي ايران در بازدارندگي حضور نظامي آمريكا در منطقه خليج فارس چه مي‌باشد؟ با استفاده از روش توصيفي- تحليلي جهت آزمون فرضيه و روش كتابخانه‌اي و فيش‌برداري براي گردآوري داده‌ها و بهره‌برداري از گزاره‌هاي نظريه موازنه تهديد، اين نتيجه حاصل گرديد كه جمهوري اسلامي ايران ضمن بهره‌برداري بهينه از موقعيت ژئوپليتيك و ژئواستراتژيك خود در منطقه خليج فارس، با توسعه قدرت دريايي، هوايي، زميني و موشكي خود در كنار بهره-برداري از راهبرد جنگ‌هاي نامتقارن و استفاده از نيروهاي نيابتي و همچنين پيگيري ديپلماسي رفاقت با كشورهاي منطقه خليج فارس، به دنبال عملي ساختن استراتژي عدم دسترسي در منطقه خليج فارس بوده است تا ضمن ايجاد يك موازنه تهديد موثر در برابر تهديدات حضور نظامي آمريكا، قدرت بازدارندگي خود را در مقابل اين كشور به خصوص در عرصه نظامي ارتقا بخشد. اقدامات جمهوري اسلامي ايران باعث تقويت امنيت ملي اين كشور و در مقابل چالشي جدي براي حضور موثر نظامي آمريكا در منطقه خليج فارس گرديد.

One of the issues that has always affected Iran's national security is the US military intervention in the Persian Gulf region. Today, this country is the biggest extra-regional threat in the Persian Gulf against Iran's national security. Iran has always strived to maintain and enhance its deterrent capability against the US military presence in the Persian Gulf region. This study seeks to answer the question of what is the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in deterring the US military presence in the Persian Gulf region? Using descriptive-analytical method to test the hypothesis and library method and taking notes to collect data and use the statements of the theory of threat balance, This result was obtained that the Islamic Republic of Iran while making optimal use of its geopolitical and geostrategic position in The Persian Gulf region, with the development of its naval, air, land and missile power, along with the use of asymmetric warfare strategy and the use of proxy forces, as well as pursuing friendship diplomacy with the countries of the Persian Gulf region, has sought to implement a no-access strategy in the Persian Gulf region to create an effective balance of threat against the threat of US military presence, to increase its deterrent power against this country, especially in the military field. The actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran strengthened the national security of this country and, in turn, posed a serious challenge to the effective US military presence in the Persian Gulf region.
