BENIGN FIBROUS HISTIOCYTOMA ; A RARE NOSE &PARANASAL TUMOR AND THE ROLE OF TRANSNASAL ENDOSCOPIC SURGERY IN ITS TREATMENT

Benign fibrous histiocytoma (BFH) is a very rare tumour of the nasal and paranasal sinuses . The most common sites are the nasal and paranasal sinuses in Head and Neck areas . The most important manifestation is nasal obstruction . One of our patients with nasal discharge and obstruction who didnʹt respond to antibiotic treatment was CT Scanned and a big mass was observed in the left maxillary sinus . The mass was excised enbloc via transnasal endoscopy and the pathological report proved it to be a benign fibrous histiocytoma. Therefore, BFH should be considered in the differential diagnosis of sinonasal polyps and masses. Because excellent visualization of tumor and lamina papyracea is possible by transnasal endoscopy, it is the best approach for mass excision.
