THE ATTITUDE OF MEDICAL STUDENTS TOWARDS MARRIAGE

Family formation is an important stage in social behaviors of any community. Attitude and feed back of young people on marriage and its problems are important. In this survey, the attitude of our student towards the factors which are influenced on marriage was investigated. The questionnaires were completed by 1300 medical students attending the shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences during 1999. Data were analysis using spss for windows. The finding showed that the role of morals and spiritual aspects in marrriage are important. Secondly, the married couples pointed out that the comfort and psychic development was the main reason for their marriages. Single students mentioned that the main problem for not being married was unsuitable person according to their criteria for marriage. Also the effect of marriage on their education. The criteria for an ideal spouse were Faith in God, Happiness, Responsibilily, Trust and Beauty. It is necessary to make the marriage a more easy process for young single generation.
