A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF U.S.- AND E.U. SECURITY STRATEGY IN THE POST 11 - SEPTEMBER PERSIAN GULF

Due to itʹs geopolitical, geostrategical, and geoeconomical position, the Persian Gulf region has historically been the focus of attention by extra-regional powers. From the politico-security point of view, this region, which serves as a reservoir for the worldʹs energy, has acquired a high place in U.S. unilateral strategy. The collapse of Afghanistan and Iraq has paved the way for Americaʹs increasing presence, and the strengthening of itʹs bases. Also, the way has been paved for traditional European bases to be captured. Chine and Russia, too, as great powers, show different tendencies towards the strategic region of Persian Gulf. Until now, Russia, India, and China, have never been allowed in, by Americaʹs regional policies. Only, Europe has managed to secure a place for itself in regional economic and security arrangements, by virtue of itʹs traditional influence. The author is to examine the common and divergent points as well as explaining Americaʹs security strategies, to describe and highlight itʹs propagandistic, operational, and psychological scenarios.
