Evaluation of honey effect on CED and FED healing that induced with alcohol, acid and alkaline in rabbit

Forthy white rabbits with 2Kg weight were used in this experiment. The rabbits deviled to 6 groups of 8 numbers (In one group study was performed in two eyes). The initial wound was inflicted by applying a round filter paper 7mm in diameter, soaked in 96% alcohol for 4 minutes and in NaoH or 12.5N sulfuric acid for 60S on central cornea and in the 3 groups we applied honey with spatula on cornea every 12 hours and then epithelial healing were determined.Findings was evaluated with t-test There are no difference in improvement of Alcohel indnced CED and NaoH induced PED with or without honey application and epithelial resurfacing of wound was seen in acid induced PED group by applying honey. Honey is available substance which has known antibiotic effect and there are many reports that reveal the efficacy of honey on burned skin improvement such as efficacy in PED improvement and this indicated new options for more research on honey application for CED and PED improvement.
