To comparing the shear bond strengths of composite to enamel using enamel bond, one - step , two step adhesive system and without bonding this study was been performed .
SDI enamel bond, Etch & prime 3.0 (one - step), Excite, Single Bond, Prime & Bond (two-step) were evaluated . Sixty sound human premolars were divided into six subgroups for each adhesives (n-10). Small flat areas on the buccal surfaces of each tooth were ground in enamel with diamond disk. In all groups, except Etch & Prime 3.0 , the surface was etched for 15 seconds with 37% phosphoric acid, rinsed with water for 10 seconds. Each bonding system was applied according to itʹs manufactureʹs directions. After adhesive in 3.8mm diameter plastic molds to the adhesive surface and light cured for 40 seconds from four directions. The completed specimens were stored in water for one week before testing . Shear bond strengths were measured using an Instron testing machine (3710-016). Data were subjected to one way ANOVA and tukeyʹs multiple comparison test.
Mean shear bond strenghs observed in this study were between 8.17±1.97 Mpa (without bonding) to 19.22 ±4.99 Mpa (SDI enamel bond). The mean shear bond strength of the subgroup without bonding were significantly lower than each other of the subgroups. The mean shear bond strength of SDI enamel bond were significantly different than the mean shear bond strength of Prime & Bond, but there was no significant different for other subgroups with each other and with SDI enamel bond. The results of this study surest that mean shear bond strength for SDI enamel bond is higher than the adhesive systems.
Unusing of bonding shows significantly lower bond strengths than the other adhesives . There were no significant difference bond strength between one-step and two step adhesive bondings.
