The role of extension education and recommendation in sustainable agricultural production in Khorasan province

This study examines the role of extension educations and recommendations in the sustainability of the farmers of Khorasan Province using the field data from 577 farmers in 2003. In this study, the grading method with indexing was used. The sampling method was classified random and for data analysis, parametric and non-parametric tests as well as correlation method were utilized. The results of the study showed that the agricultural extension has been able to offer the educational services to the target groups in a reasonable manner. Also the data indicates that the extension sector has been acting satisfactorily in presenting educational and extension courses and attracting the farmers to the extension offices though the extension educations in the form of journals offices though the extension educations in the form of journals and bulletins especially as individual correspondence were not so successful. The analysis of data regarding to the sustainability of the farmers of Khorasan has shown that agricultural extension and educations had a positive influence in setting up sustainable agricultural production systems and also on partial sustainability indices. The results from calculation of correlation coefficient between sustainability and social-individual factors indicate a positive influence of the variables age and level of experience on sustainability. On the other land, there found a negative relationship between age and sustainability.
