The Role of IT on Librariansʹ Job Status: Opinions of Librarians in Tehran Technical and Engineering Libraries

This research intends to analysis opinions of librarians about the role of Information Technology (IT) on their job status. The impact of factors such as acquiring special skills; general knowledge about soft wares and hard wares; salary increase; job credits; job promotion; job responsibility; job simplicity; job attraction; quickness, accuracy, and discipline in the work; leisure time; using computer; tiredness of work; managers supervision and preferring novel technologies to traditional systems were studies on Librarians job status. The results of the research indicate that the "discipline" factor (64 percent) and "leisure time" and "preferring traditional systems" (4 percent) accordingly are in the highest and lowest place in the ranking list.
