A Survey on Iranʹs Scientific journals and Their Inclusion in International Indexes (1978-1998): Proposing Some Practical Solutions

The present research intends to survey on situation of scientific journals in Iran (1978-198) as well as inclusion of journals in International indexes. Using bibliometric methodology, Iranʹs scientific journals and international indexes (Agrindex, Applied Science and Technology Index, Engineering Index, Humanities Index, Index Islamicus, Science Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index) were studied. The findings of the research indicate that Iranʹs scientific journals are not in appropriate situation in terms of number, subject coverage, language, publication date, print number, English abstract and ISSN. The paper also discusses about the reasons of exclusion of Iranʹs scientific journals in international indexes and provides several practical solutions.
