A survey on Ph.D. dissertation related to Islam and Iran housed in Iranology and Islamic Studies Department of the National Library of Islamic Republic of Iran

In this study it has been tried the situation of Ph.D. dissertations of foreign country universities on different subjects relating to Iran and Islam existing in Iranology and Islamic Studies Department of the National Library of IRI to be studied in detail. Regarding this, the situation of these works being studied from different aspects like: subject dispersion, period covered, nationality of the students, and the country that dissertation has been presented. Results show that, the most of them allocated to social sciences class and the least to the generalities class. The oldest dissertation is the one about "education" which has been defended at 1892 in the United States. In addition to Iranians, non-Iranians also shown their interest to Iraniology and Islamic studies, and the most titles (96.41%) have been presented and defended in the United States of America.
