Ethical values from library and information sciences professionalsʹ point of view

This article considers ethical values from library and information sciences professionals of Iran point of view. The aim of ethical value is a set of principles, rules and evaluative procedures that have appointed in professional ethics of librarianship in order to provide probable satisfactory social relations for librarians to do their functions. Survey method is used for this research, and its statistical population consists of 332 library and information sciences professionals all around Iran. A questionnaire is used to gather data. Of course different circumstances of librarians like the place of birth, occupation in different sections, occupation in different libraries, different parts of the country and so on have been taken into consideration. At the end the researcher comes to this conclusion that, three important ethical values from statistical populationsʹ point of view are: offering services to users, providing facilities in order to provide equal access to information, and assisting the promotion of the usersʹ information literacy.
