Consideration of ISSN Situation in Iranian serials

This survey considers ISSN situation and its usage rate in Iranian printed periodicals. Findings and results of this survey and their consideration show that 44 percent of research population are members of ISSN International Center and 56 percent are not. But hypothesis of this survey (less than 50 percent of Iranian periodical have recieved ISSN) did not approved through chi-square test. Almost 43.4 percent of member publishers believe that ISSN has no use and others think it is effective for order, selling and distribution activities. Therefore as a general conclusion it can be said that publishers have not paid suitable attention to ISSN in Iran. Establishing a national center, taking serious decisions on authorities sides for recieving standard number and practical use of it, can be an effective step in this regard.
