This article is trying to study and analysis the information needs and information seeking behavior of the sixth parliament of Islamic Republic of Iran representatives and the way the find their needed information. Sample of this study are 285 representatives of the parliament and practical descriptive survey method is used for this study. A questionnaire is used to collect data and 153 representatives (53.7%) have responded to it. Research findings show that the most important information needed by representatives are on the subject law and legislation (about 88%) and legal issues. Next subjects are politics (70%), economics (63%), religion (46%), social subjects (43%), and culture (43%) respectively. The most important sources of information for representatives are local newspapers that are available in parliament (74%) and the news bulletin (67%). The information seeking methods are: trip to election headquarters or other parts of the country in order to visit local, regional and national projects (73%), existing database in the parliament (57%), personal library (62%), research center of the parliament (42%), parliament libraries (39%), referring to the databases on Internet (37%), foreign conferences (13%),.... Research results also shows that the information the representatives get from parliament libraries an parliament research center is less than 50 percent of the information they need.
