A Comparison of Management Styles at Ferdowsi & Medical Science University Libraries

Management style in libraries has a teremendpus effect on the way services are provided, especially the way the employees perfom their duties. The aim of this research was to compare the management styles at Ferdowsi and Medical Sciences university libraries in Mashhad. The population of the research consisted of all the librarians employed at Ferdowsi an Medical Sciences university libraries, plus their respected managers. Two researcher made questionaires , one for the librarians and one for the managers, were distributed. Resrarch results showed that Medical Science libraries with 57.7% point found their managers at style 3 of Likertʹs scale, whereas Ferdowsi university librarians with 49.4% point found their managers in style 2 of Likertʹs scale. On the other hand, their respected managers in Medical Sciences libraries had the mentality of employing style 3 of the Likertʹs with the 67% point; however managers in Ferdowsi had the mentality of employing style 3 of Likerstʹs with the 72.5% point.
