Libraries and the process of globalization

The concept of globalization has gained much attention, both positive and negative, among people. From a theoretical point of view, different perspectives have been expressed by learned people. Apart from such different and conflicting views, the global society moves toward integration and unity. This brings many changes to different aspect of human life. Libraries, as social institutions being influenced by social changes, will face many changes in their roles and functions. A study of the impact of globalization on libraries can help librarian adapt their institutions with the rapid changes. This paper discusses the impact of technology on the rapid development of globalization, the challenges, and the ways librarians can manage the issue.
