A COMPARISON STUDY OF TMJ INTERNAL DERANGEMENT FREQUENCY & ETIOLOGICAL FACTORS IN THE TWO SEX GROUPS (18-25 YIN) OF THE URMIA MEDICAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Backgrounds & Aims: Internal derangement of the Tempororomaxilory Joint (TMJ) is a dysfunction of disk in the joint movement. We studied etiology of disease in men and women. Material & Method: From 150 patients that examined, 85 were females & 65 were male. The male studentʹs rate is 45% in comparison to the female that is 55%. Data was analyzed by SPSS. Results: 14 (21.9%) of male patients are affected while 22 (22.6%) of female are affected. There was no correlation between the sex & internal dearengment of the TMJ. Discussion: In this study, there is not any difference in the prevalence of the I.D of the TMJ between the two sex groups. There are not corresponding to the other studies. Its cause may be high rates of trauma in men.
