Implications of the Medical Profession to Social Order

Since sciences have acquired an influential role in regulating and organizing the social affairs of modern societies, medical practice, as a scientific profession, has taken on a considerable status among other occupations. The author has tried to reveal the role played and effects exerted by the medicine in organizing the contemporary social life. The implications of medical profession in organizing societies have here been studied at both micro and macro levels through a theoretical analysis method. The analysis indicated that at micro level the medical profession has some important effect on actorsʹ needs, including physical ones, and on social and cultural components of action systems. At the macro level, the medical profession has contributed in providing some necessary implications of cultural, social, economic and political subsystems of a society. Finally, some sociological criticisms concerning the medical practice in contemporary societies have been pur forward.
