Some Considerations on Motives for Out-migration from City of Ahwaz

The general pattern of internal migration in the so-called third-world countries refers to replacement of manpower from less developed to more developed regions of which rural emigration is one major phenomenon. The main context of this group migration, which deepens the development divide between target and source regions, is partly caused by politico-economic dependency of smaller and less developed regions to urban areas and particularly to centers of provinces of which the most notable is the capital city. This increases the deprivation of the source regions and further complicates their under-development. Therefore, the larger portion of the better manpower (mentally and physically) decides to emigrate. The Khuzistan province is no exception to this general rule. In recent years the emigration flow of skilled manpower has intensified. This research makes an effort to survey the factors that may reinforce and materialize, from its embryonic potentiality, the act of emigration.
