The famous book al Mufadaliyyat is among the oldest collections of Arabic poetry available today. The book, which is very popular with Arab literary figures, is, as its name suggests, attributed to Mufadal Zabi, a literary figure who lived in the second century A.H. Drawing on certain traditions found in important literary and historical books, master Abdulaziz Meymani casts doubt on this attribution and believes that the bookʹs real author is Ebraliim bin Abdullah, a grandchild of Imam Hassan Mojtaba. Meymaniʹs article has been translated by one of his students Seyyed Mohammad Yousef into English. The present article is an annotated translation of this article from the English version whose title is "The Original Compiler of al Mufadaliyyat".
