چكيده لاتين :
This article evaluate effect of ciprofloxacin eye drop(CP) in decreasing anterior chamber(AC) contamination During cataract extraction intraocular lens implanation (ECCE +10E1). This study has been performed in Rasool Akram Hospital since 1999 to 2000. Thisprospective experimental clinical trail has been performed on sequential non selective cases that underwent ECCE + IOLI. Patients are divided in those who have received Cp(cp group) from 2 days before operation and control group that did not received cp. From each patient speciment cultured on thioglycolate (TH) and blood agar(BA) in 5 stages. The first speciment(1) from the other eye, second speciment(2) from the eye to be operated before prep and derp and the third speciment(3) after perp and derp before incision from the lower culdesac. Forth speciment(4) taken from AC fluid and fifth speciment(5) from lower culdesac at the end of operation. All speciment underwent microbiological studies for rowth and kind of microorganisms(MO). Collected data classified and underwent statistical analysis by X2 tests. 111 patients underwent this experimental study in one year. Over all stage 1 growth of MO noticed in 39.7% which was staphylococus epidermidis(SE) in 26.7%. In stage 2 SE was 15.3% in 18% positive cultures. Stage 3 & 5 had 12.6% positive culture all SE. AC fluide culture(4) was positive in 9% that was SE in 5.4%. Comparison of stage 2 positive culture in CP group(9%) with control group( 1 5.32%) showed statistically significant differences(P=0.02). That means CP has decreased growth of MO in treated group. Comparison of stage 4 positive culture in CP group(2.7%) with control group(9%) showed statistically significant differences(P=0.01) that means the CP treated eyes had less growth of MO from AC fluid than control group. AC positive culture was noticed despite sterile ECCE + IOLI. There was significant decrease in AC contamination in eyes that receive CP.
