Determination of the relation and regression equation of Anthropometric indexes of children between the ages of I-4 from northern Tehran nurseries based on their sex difference

Determination of bodyʹs dimensions and anthropometrical indexes of children is one of the important standards for the assessment of physical and nutritional growth in children. Children grow rapidly between the ages of 1-2 but it decreases after the age of two. Changes in their weight, height, and arm, waist and hip circumferences occur until they reach the age of five. Therefore these parameters are useful not only for determination of changes in the dimensions of the body and its nutrition and growth conditions but also for determination of the relation and correlation between the bodyʹs dimensions and consist an important role in several researching sections. It must be added that the growth of head circumference also indicates growth of the brain. This research was done on 1999 on 1060 children between the ages of 1-4 which 529 of them were girls and 531 boys. Studies took place in Tehran ʹs kindergartens and according to the " Cross Sectional " method. In this research height, weight and arm, chest, head, hip and waist circumferences were measured. Results were analyzed statistically according to the ʹSPSS" Windows software and the following was achieved: (p<0.05). Differences between averages of the bodyʹs dimensions were measured according to separate sex and age groups. The "Variation Analysis" test was used in that regard and the relation between the extensions were specified by Regression. In one-year-old girls and boys, the difference of all parameters was meaningful except for weights. In the two-year-old children chest, arm, waist circumference averages weren ʹt meaningful according to separate sexes. In the three year-olds, hip circumference average and in the four-year-olds, weight averages were meaningful.
