Rigid Esophascopy in diagnosis and treatment of dysphagia, reprot of 3200 cases

3200 patients with chief complain of dysphagia underwent endoscopy at the Department of Surgery of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in its affiliated Ghaem and Omid Hospitals. 2373 cases had underlying Malignant eance Diagnosis Nas obtained by barium swallow and afterwards approved by rigid endoscopy under local anesthesia. Our data suggest that dysphagia parallels esophageal cancer in Khorassan Province, and mass screening program planning is justified, effective and safe in experienced hands although not less expensive.
