A Survey of Socio-Economic Factors Associated With Family Power Structure in Shiraz

The aim of this paper is to study the effects of socio-economic variables of family power structure. In this study, the survey method was used to measure the effects of the variables. The data for this study were collected through questionnaires distributed among a sample of 300 married women in Shiraz city, living with their husbands at the time of survey, during winter 1995. To test the research hypothesis, data analysis was performed using the bivariate and multivariate statistical techniques. The pattern of decision making was mostly influenced by husband education, husband occupational prestige and the wifeʹs birth place. The pattern of division of labour was mostly influenced by wifeʹs level of education, wifeʹs occupation and the age of man.
