Study of waste causes of water and methanol from bottom distillation tower in Kharg Petrochemical for preventing of environmental problem and optimized using from it

Significant amount of methanol and water as a bottom product of distillation tower in Kharg petrochemical plant enter to sea which has environmental problem and it causes to waste much methanol. Average concentration of. methanol in process water in real condition is %4, with discharging this mixture to the sea, losses of water and methanol will be 15 m3/hr and 15 ton/day respectively. Therefore study of object and presentation of solution for optimization of this process has been accomplished in this paper. Regarding to the different experiments and contact with Lurgi Co., the best. solution is pH control in distillation tower and changing of carbon steel pipes with stainless steel pipes that at the present time preparations of this work are performing.
