Green Productivity, a New Opportunity in Environmental Management

Green productivity is a strategy to improve productivity, determine priorities, and environmental concerns for achieving sustainable economic-social development in societies. The trend of environmental management from 1950s till 1990s has been faced with several changes. The new opportunity in between is applying green productivity in all services, products, and activities of a unit or sector. The methodology of green productivity encompasses six stages. Organizing work groups, briefing and training, monitoring the actions, and valuation are among the stages. There are successfuul experiences in Asian-Oceania countries. Sewage management in a food producing factory in China leads to 3700 dollar saving in sewage refining cost. Also, installing a heat economizer in an industrial unit in China causes around 62049 dollar saving in annual costs. The first successful green productivity project in Iran is the painting room of Iran Khodro Company. In this article, the principles of green productivity, its methodology, methods, and tools - especially in energy sector together with some successful experiences are discussed.
