IT Planning, Methodologies, stages, and Outputs

For surviving in the new world, companies have to have competitive advantage. Information is a factor for creating competitive advantage, and organizations use information technology (IT) as a tool for producing and keeping this competitive advantage. Organizations have to have suitable planning for effective and useful application of IT. But this creates cost for the organization. IT must use for fulfilling managerial needs and must be designed and implemented based on these needs. Furthermore, top managers have to be responsible and committed for the implementation of information systems. In this article, one of the IT planning methods is reviewed and the inputs and outputs of every stage, along with the methodologies used in each stage are described.
