The Tradition of Writing ʹArba in and an Exquisite Manuscript in Exposition of Forty Hadiths

The holy Prophet (S.A.W.), in the famous hadith of ʹarhaʹin, which has been narrated in different styles by both Sunni and Shiite scholars, strongly emphasized the compiling, recording and preserving of such hadith. This hadith is the main focus of "writing arhaʹin" and has been the most important factor iii motivating Muslims to write ʹarhaʹin books. In these books, forty hadlths attributed to the infallible Imams (A.S.) conveying a wide range of ideological and ethical issues, have been compiled, explicated, and annotated by the scholars. This body of meritorious traditions was so deeply rooted as to influence Persian literature as well. Such compilations entitled as chehel tuti, chchel Fas/, chehel namus, cllehel bad), clichel sabah, etc. are typical examples of the influence. One of these hooks, "Al Arbaʹuna Hadithanʹ", dating hack to the early I I th17th century, was written by a great philosopher named Mir Muhammad Taman Simnani, a contemporary to Sheikh Bahaʹi.
