A Comparative Study of the Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide as against Mallachite Green Used for Prevention and Control of Fungal Infection During Hatching Peroid in Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) Eggs

An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of different doses of hydrogen peroxide on fertilized eggs of rainbow trout as compared to use of mallachite green, which is commonly used in hatcheries. For In vitro tests, treatment with 250, 500 or 1000 mg/l of H2O2 for either 15 or 30 min was shown to be effective in control of fungi (controlled fungi in petridish), and for In vivo test, treatment with 250 mg/I of H2O2 for 30 min at 7°C was adequate for complete fungal control. There were no significant differences doserved with 2 mg/1 malachite green in terms of either percentage of eggs infected or mortality until eyed egg stage. The results indicate that H2O2 is not only not dengerous for hygienic and environemental conditions but prolitable and suitable due to oxygen release and improvement of water quality.
