This paper analyzes the relationship between family structure and social participation as two key social science concepts. It first discusses the origins and development of the two concepts to place them within the larger framework of social science theory. The paper then examines the relationship between family structure and social participation in the Iranian city of Kashan, finding a strong correlation between them.
