The Growth Residual:Human Capital or Social Capital?

This paper focuses on human capital and social capital as determinants of economic growth and compares the corresponding effects. The results show that the effect of a decline in social capital on growth is negative and significant, while the effect of human capital is not significant. Regarding residual growth, again it is concluded that the effect of a decline in social capital is significant but the human capital has no effect on economic growth. Although we have benefited simple criteria to measure human capital and social capital, the results can be considerable.
