Simulation of Axial Flow Reactors of Alkylation Process for Production of Ethyl Benzene

Ethyl benzene is the feed of styrene monomer production and its use is rapidly increasing in recent years. It is produced from alkylation of benzene with ethylene. A powerful tool for developing this process is the process simulator. In this Research, alkylation of benzene for production of Ethyl benzene has been simulated. Mass, energy and momentum balance equations for axial flow reactor have been developed. Optimization techniques have been used to improve the kinetic equations presented in literature to satisfy unit conditions. Model predict values, such as reactor temperature, pressure, reactant conversion and products composition are in good agreement with unit experimental results and they can be used with good precision to develop a pilot plant or new unit.
