CRITERIA AND REGULATIONS FOR THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CASPIAN SEA SHORELINE

The absence of a comprehensive plan for preservation of the seashore and consequently, unsuitable and unplanned land use of that zone, non-utilization of the rules and regulations of the city detailed plans, construction of single detached housing units and villas alongside the beautiful and attractive shoreline of the Caspian Sea instead of constructing leisure complexes for the public uses, have resulted in the destruction of the said shoreline since the 1950s. In this article sustainable development policies and measures for the preservation of the seashore lines have been surveyed and considering the local problems and limitations, a battery of measures have been proposed for the long term development of the Caspian Sea shoreline.
