An, Architecture and Urban Planning of Iran have had spectacular positions in the world, and the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Tehran has been the founder of these fields in Iranian higher education system with over sixty years history. It has had deep effects on the art and physical spaces of the country, and many scholars and artist have been graduated from this faculty, well known in the national and world scales. Parallel to the transformations in the various development aspects, the fields and departments of the faculty have confronted various changes. It started with three fields of architecture, painting and sculpture sixty years ago. However, it has over twenty fields now in bachelor, master and Ph.D programs, including: architecture, landscape design, building renovation and rehabilitation, constructing management, urban planning, urban design, industrial design, visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography and graphic), performing arts (directing, acting, scene design, toll performing and performing literature), art research and music (Iranian and classic). The university wishes to facilitate for improvement of the faculty, based on its history, identity and existing very higher scientific ability. However, the faculty confronts various challenges and needs various facilities to play such role. Arts, architecture and urban planning have key roles in the arrangement of various aspects of the cultural, social, economic, environmental and physical development of country.
