Financial Engineering in Iran Capital Market

This article describes the nature of financial engineering, its origin and history, together with its applications in such areas as information technology, credit, and power sector. The author focuses on Tehran Stock Exchange and discusses its efficiency and financial techniques, namely revenue and profit leveling used by companies in this market. Financing and financial methods in stock markets, along with their shortcomings and other mechanisms are discussed in this article. One shortcoming is that the existing stock pricing method is not compatible with well-known standards and there are probably some informal and hidden factors that affect the case. This article also describes the process of issuing governmental bonds as one of the important securities in Tehran stock market, reviews its limitations, and presents some alternatives.
