A Theoretic Look into the Models of War and Deterrence from the Realistic Approach

The field of strategic studies in international relations has come to exist in response to environmental necessities in the international systemʹs logical paradigm of anarchicality, self-help, power and war-orientedness. To put it differently, the war puzzle and the systems for controlling the unwanted wars against oneself have caused this strategic field to be formed. In the above-mentioned study field, war employs a particular model, the basis of which can be looked for in the paradigm of realism. In other words, power and itʹs related mechanisms may explain war, itʹs models, and how it continues and ends. On the other hand, the deterrence system is the only efficient system that can be trusted in the world of realism; however, the way it forms depends on certain conditions. And beside that, different models of that form on the basis of the required power level and the tools used.
