Synthesis of 3-Hydroxyethyl 2-Oxazalidone (HEOD) and its Influence on Corrosion

3-Hydroxyethyl 2-0xazalidone(HEOD) is one of the products of amine degradation in gas.refineries and has a marked effect on the corrosion by of process equipments and pipelines in these refineries. The aim of this work, is the synthesis of this component. for calibration of the analysis instruments such as gas chromatograph and etc. to carry out corrosion tests on carbon steel and out the wqv that inhibit formation of this component_ Synthesis of this component carried out by two methods and general corrosion tests are performed according to ASTM G31. The results show that HEOD has significant influence on corrosion.A1so, corrosion tests are curried out in CO2 media with the pressure of about 3462 kPa and reveal that CO: increase the corrosion rate.
